Uninstall any patches, skins or SMiley central and/or Sweet IM
Make sure it is enabled in plus's prefrences and try again

Or downgrade to the older build of plus - http://www.toggle.com/lv/group/view/kl25311/Messenger_Plus!_Live.htm
