Such scripts are highly dependable on your local mobile phone companies. What works for him will most likely not work for you.
In order to send an SMS via your computer you
just need to have access to your mobile phone's network via a web form of some sort. And most mobile phone companies do not allow for sending SMS's for free either, and they quite often have restrictions in the amount of SMS that you can send, etc.
