How about just disconnecting the power?
You also save some power and your screen probably last longer too.
(A connected screen is never really off when you don't disconnect it from the mains)
To disconnect the power you could simply use a
powerbar with a switch so you don't need to pull out the plug each time. You can connect your computer to that powerbar too so it is turned off properly also and the PSU will last longer.
