Often this kind of behaviour is caused because devices like your NIC are allowed to wake up your PC, so when it's time to renew your IP for example it will wake up your PC to do so.

You can prevent a device from waking up you PC by going to the device manager, right click the device and choose properties. On the Power Management tab you can deselect "allow this device to wake up my computer".

You can also use powercfg to see what devices are allowed to wake up your computer and which ones did. Open a command prompt and enter powercfg /? for the options this program has...
