O.P. Huh?  [?] Downgrading to MP!L 4.x
Hi folks!

Wow.. It's been like too long: almost 2 years since my last post, though I've been on here several times in the meantime. I've seen many things change; I've seen, like most of you, how Messenger Plus! Live (yes, "Live" at the time) went from a brilliant piece of software to the same kind of crapware that you find on scam sites. I've seen people from the community leave, not wanting to see the fall of a legend - and the departure of another, - or wanting to carry on with their own lives. I can reminisce for hours, thinking about the time when all my classmates were Plus! users; when MSN, and later WLM were the hottest things around - like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts nowadays.

Anyways, I'll cut it off for now; I've just got one last thing to add: has anyone got a link/mirror to the installer of the last Messenger Plus! Live version released by Patchou? Should be 4.something, according to the change logs on the website.

Cheers!

The last 4.x version seems to be 4.90.392 and is still linked on the Downloads page. The last version Patchou made an announcement for was 4.84, so I'm not sure if 4.90 is the version you're looking for, though.

Yup, looks like Messenger Plus! Live 4.84.384 (06/06/2010) is the one I'm looking for, rather than 4.90 ;)

If my memory serves me correctly...the very last couple versions released by Patchou was digitally-signed as released by Yuna Software. I don't think that would be what you're after though :/

If digital signature is what you're going for you're probably looking for a 4.82.x build.
  • I have Messenger Plus! 4.82.0.368, signed by Patchou on 19 July 2009.
  • The next thing I have after that is Messenger Plus! Live 4.83.0.372, signed on 22 October 2009 by Yuna Software Limited.
  • Although I also have a Messenger Plus! 3.63.1.148, signed on 9 August 2010 by Patchou.
  • EDIT: Builds were signed by Patchou once in a while during 2010. Most recent I have signed by Patchou is 4.85.1.386 (8 August 2010).
  • Also edit: 4.84.384 (06/06/2010) wasn't signed by Patchou, but 4.84.0.382 (27 April 2010) and 4.85.0.386 (23 July 2010) were.
Under which name it was signed is probably not the best indicator of which build you're looking for. Transition during the 4.8x versions was gradual. There were also many silent build updates which people didn't realize (mainly sponsor package experimentation). But if memory serves me right the build frenzy really started at 4.83.

Also consider which Messenger version you intend to use it on. The older 4.x builds don't work with a lot of newer WLM builds.

If you want any of the builds mentioned above, PM me for a link. Cookie probably has a more complete collection though :).

@Menthix: I've sent you a PM, thanks! I'm using WLM version 14.0.something.somethingelse (and some trickery to get it to sign in), so I think it'll be compatible.

If you need another version, I think I have a nice collection of them myself :).

Take care SmokingCookie, time flies.

Hey Patchou! How are you doing these days? Haven't you got a copy of the source code? :P At the moment, I'm running 4.82.0.368, which Menthix has kindly sent to me, but thank you for the offer anyways! :)

I'm very fine thank you, working on different kinds of projects now (less public stuff). I don't have the source code anymore as I sold it a couple of years ago now but the binaries are still there!
