i dont think this would be hard to do and it would be nice

what i wanted on my msn-plus is to only have certain groups make sounds and notify when they come online..

so i turned off:

"play a sound when contacts sign in or send a message"
and "display alerts when contacts come online"

and then on Messenger Plus.. i turned on the option to display sounds when contacts come online.. and only chose those in certain groups

it works but there are discrepancies:

i had to set online notifications for each individual person.. not just the group.. and more importantly... now it doesnt play a sound or notify me when someone messages me

so anyway this is all i would like to see...
when msn sounds r turned off.. have an option that says "play a sound and notification when someone sends me a message" (the problem is msn doesnt separate this event from the event sounds/notify when ppl come online)

and... being able to choose notifications for whole groups...

i dunno.. maybe im rambling too much and no one will understand this message.. but thx if u do

I'm not sure what you are asking, but it sounds like your asking for notifiactions for groups. Which you can already do with messenger plus

P.s Its Messnger Plus, Not MSN-Plus

I think he means that you could select the whole group at the same times instead of setting the options for each contact.

yes vilkku.. thx thats wut i want...  AND.. having an option to turn on sounds when someone messages you (and NOT when they come online)

and MsgPlus or Msn-plus is quicker to type than messenger plus..
same difference.. jeez

Msg Plus and Msn-plus are 2 totally different things. msg plus is by patchou but msn-plus is by microsoft

I'm sorry if I misread your post.

You can set the sound notification per group.
Preferences>Notifications>Sounds

As for the MSN Messenger sound, you can set if you just want to hear the sound message notification.
Tools>Options>General>Sounds

right but you cant set notification-windows (toasts) per group.... u have to go through each member of the group and turn it on (or off)..

and... u cant set msn sounds for people messaging u.. but not coming online..

so right now my options are..

1. hear a sound when contacts message u and when ANYONE comes online...

2. hear a sound when certain ppl i like talking to come online and not hear any sound when contacts message me..

im looking for a 3rd option of..

3. hear a sound when contacts message me or when certain ppl i like talking to (a certain group) come online..

Okay - so the suggestion is - as well as "Sign-in Sound" and "Sign-out Sound" - to add a "Message sound" that would be played each time a message is received from the selected contact/group (under sounds in the notifications section of the Plus! preferences).

ya thats great i just meant in general.. but it'd be even better if there was one for messages from certain ppl..

and the ability to change toasts for a whole group at once but thats pretty straight forward.
