O.P. plugin idea: display picture logging
Would it be possible to create a plugin that logged the display pictures of contacts in a folder? I can't program or anything so someone else would have to do it, but I would find this really useful. Anyone else agree?

Stuffplug NG can show you all of you contacts current and previous display pictures, with the CE/DP stealer feature, although this doesnt work properly with Messenger 7

And is also the reason why it has been removed from SPNG for now.
You want to log all your contacts display pictures? Well im not sure how MSN 7 works with Dp's but MSN 6x saves them in your data folder already. You would just need a viewer to open them all. And i don't think there is a plugin (could be wrong) but there is always things like DP Stealers which can view them

RE: plugin idea: display picture logging
Concerning the DPs, MSN 7 still works the same way as 6.x.
All Display Pictures and Custom Emoticons you receive are saved on your computer. They are not saved as image files but as *.bin files in some "Temporary Internet Files" Sub-folders.
So basically, to retrieve them, you can do a file search on your computer for *.bin and then pick the files which are listed to be in a subfolder of "Temporary Internet Files" and copy them to wherever you want. Then rename them to .png and you will see the actual Display Pictures.
There are some programs that do this searching bit for you, the CE/DP stealers, which can be found here.

as long as you want a buggy and ram eating program / "add-on to MSN Messenger" which isn't compatible with Messenger 7 jet.

Actually, as CookieRevised said in one of those threads (or both), you can't just search for *.bin files in the TIF folder, as the actual filenames for the DP/CE files in that folder are "hidden".
But if you look at the file tipe type, it shows it's Binary (*.BIN) and you can look at the attributes, where it says "Cache Name".

Yes, if you look directly into the "Temporary Internet Files"-folder, you won't see any of the sub folders but (atleast in Windows 98), when you do a filesearch for *.bin they should show up in the results.
Maybe I worded it a bit unclear but I actually meant to use the Search and not just to look into that folder via Windows Explorer or such.

Weird, in WinXP I can't find anything if I do a search for BIN files in the TIF folder, but the files are there but not with the "real" filename.
