 | | O.P. RE: computer on/off zaidgs, what Windows version are you using? Windows 2000/XP are much more stable than its predecessors, so there must be something wrong in your PC, either some dodgy program (including spyware and viruses) or dodgy device drivers... |

 | | RE: computer on/off i used to use xp-sp1, currently i use sp2i dunno, but i once used win98 on, and it didnt restart automatically, and also i use linux on it, and it does not restart!!
also i tried replacing some of the computer devices (i changed winmodem, also tried running computer without ethernet, used each of the two RAM chips -128MB each- seperately) and i tried the BIOS Fail Safe settings: none of those stopped computer from restarting automatically!!!
when i bought the pc it came with win2000, it was fine too, but i want to keep using xp because i find it most suitable to me!!

the two main things that cause crashes are when playing games, and using internet; games especially nfs6, nfsu2, (nfsu didnt cause me trouble)
there are few random crashes too.

i use latest drivers for most of my devices (all didgitally signed too)
i got no viruses at all, i use symantec antivirus corporate edition always with latest definitions, and norton internet security 2003,
and also no spyware or adware, as i take care of what i download!!

 | | RE: computer on/off I'd say leaving it one all the time is a bad idea. It will get very hot (in the summer) and anything can happen to it while you are sleeping. Say there is a power cut or something. :/  I'd just turn it off when you go to bed. Leave it on if you are going away for an hour at most, and someone is still in the house, to make sure nothing bad happens to it. www.mycutelobster.co.uk "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry,
but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"

It could be a hardware problem too. Disable autorestart, right click My PC > Properties > Advanced options > Startup and recovery > Configuration button > uncheck Restart automatically. Open a new thread if you need more help. |

Exactly, the blue screen gives information about the crash. So next time you have one, write down the error type, STOP number and the parameters, i.e. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, STOP 0x0000000A, (0x00000065, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804FAC65).
Make a new thread, or maybe a mod could split this one? |

 | | RE: [split] zaidgs' computer problem hehe good joke, i formatted it several times, its like formatting has become an everyday task!!!no really, i format like every four or five monthes for one reason or another, like last time was on the day MS-antispyware beta was released, cuz i lost internet conectivity so i formatted, also after that by several weeks i got xp-sp2 so i formatted again!!!

anyways, i face these problems "time after time"

here are the info u requested:
(this is one random cash: )
 IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
 stop: 0x 0000 000A ( 0x 0000 1D2E, 0x 0000 00FF, 0x 0000 0000, 0x804E 3B58)

(this happened while i was playing nfsu2: )
 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
 stop: 0x 0000 0050 ( 0x BB00 58CE, 0x 0000 0000, 0x BB00 58CE, 0x 0000 0002 )

two crashes happned so far, i'll post any other crahes i get (my computer seems nice today, it didnt crash while i was surfing the net, BUT IT EVENTUALLY WILL)

thx for anyone who can help, or just tried to.

edit: another crash caused by nfsu2:
 MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
 stop: 0x 0000 001A ( 0x 0004 1284, 0x DF60 B001, 0x 0000 1F76, 0x C0C0 0000 )
