O.P. MSN Messenger 7.0 - Disappointing / No Effort?
Hi,

yes, the new sleek design, the contact list... yes it's all very appealing... but is that all they have done?

• The emoticons displayed in the contact lists have simply just been resized, making them look pixalated.

• The options GUI is not what i expected either. It seems simple and has had no effort put into it. They have simply moved the frames from one to the other and exchanged the tabs for lists. (take some advice from MsgPlus!! :P)

• Also, theres not that many new fantastic features which we all may have expected. A very good one they should have introduced which we all thought was going to, but not just quite the way we wanted it, was Offline Messaging, that would have been awesome!

So all-in-all, a few new not popular features with an upgraded GUI :(.
What do you guys think?

Kind Regards,
XM4ST3RX

I think that the new msn is just a ram/process hog. Although I do like the built in 'Now Playing' feature.

Hi,

Ah yes, that feature is quite good. I also like the sign in status, but those are nothing really special compared to something which Offline Messaging would bring.

it's pure nonsense... but everyone uses it. so you have to use it too. and there's some new paying crap added too. it's just some money-gaining entertainment...

it didn't deserve a whole new version though...

I guess every one's updating before they are forced into it by the Microsoft Nazis. MSN 6.2 was clean and very stable why didn't they stick with it?

I do use MSN 7 at the moment, but i thought that 6.2 was a great version and the new features in 7 i will probably very rarely use if at all. Some are quite useful, but mainly they are more fun features. Loads of my friends still use MSN 6.2 after seeing that MSN 7 doesn't do a great deal more.

Btw, this thread should be in MSN/Windows Messenger.

My main annoyance was the recent instability of the final release. However, that may have been due to bugs in Plus and SPNG, so I'll wait and see.

Oh yeah, and it takes forever to load those Muggins and the like! And while it's doing that, it freezes the conversation window!

There is already some bots for offline messaging that noroom made. Go to http://www.offlinemessenger.com or see this thread for more information http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=42440&page=1 .

I'm quite dissapointing that they didn't add the offline messaging, that really sucks, but everything else I liked it. They should have put more features on it before they release a new msn version.
