O.P. MSN Messenger automatic sign in

I clicked 'automatically sign me in' by mistake when I was signing into MSN Messenger.

I went to the help topics and followed the instructions...ie. general tab and clear 'automatic sign in'

I've done that 3 times and also restarted my computer twice...it is still signing me in automatically!

My family use this computer so if anyone knows how to get rid of the automatic sign in I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

do you close msndirectly without signing out. i've found if you do that and don;t sign out before closing msn messenger some settings arent changed... it may help...

re-enter you password but don't tick the box that should work too.... does for me...

delte your email from the signin thing... tools - options - general - click the button that says 'change' and delte your account from the list... then log in again not ticking the box?

EDIT: i on the other hand have the opposite problem.... mine won't sign in automatically.... would it be that my internet is through a wireless router and not direct thats causing this? is there a way round it? thanks :)

Sorry...I must be really thick.

I deleted my name from the sign in thingy, but it still appears in the drop down box...I don't have a change or delete button on that.   I can delete it by right clicking, but it still shows in the drop down box.

I'm probably not doing it in the right place.

I did try to sign in again afterwards...but its just the same.

I don't even know if uninstalling would work.

Thanks for all your help.

Remove the MSN loginlist (passports):
- exit MSN
- go to start > run
- type: control userpasswords2 <enter>
- go to advanced tab
- click passwordmanagement button
- remove all passports you don't want in the loginlist (drop down box) anymore

Now restart your MSN Messenger an you will see you need to type in a password again, it will keep askin you too aslong as you don't tell MSN Messenger to remember you ;)

Dunno if relevant, but unfortunately there is a current bug in the Dutch version of Windows XP which prevents from removing passport information from your user-account using this method.

You can go to Tools > Options > General and click CHANGE in MSN itself.
