If Anti-Spyware and Anti-Adware sources were accurate (as most can be) they would provide the real deal on the sponsor program.

However many people just see one category as "Spyware and Adware" as programs that are dodgy as often isn't the case.

tbh, if I was a less able computer user with no way to actually examine the sponsor program I may choose not to listen to Patchou and take an opinion from a third party.

The simple reason is, if I had no way to actually look at the effects of the sponsor I would instantly assume that the creator was going to either be really nasty to complaints or lie and be dodgy, in that case I wouldn't take his opinion, and would get it from the supposedly "experts" in this kind of problem.

So the reason why many people don't trust Patchou is quite simple, its because he's the guy that put the sponsor program in Plus, and therefore people don't trust what he has to say. If it wasn't for actually looking at the sponsor program, being more computer able than many less able users and knowing Patchou's personality, I doubt I would want to take his opinion had I accidentally installed the sponsor.

It's totally understandable reason if you ask me, (for computer users of that level).

That's what I'm saying, most people won't bother with the search bar. I think it would be a good idea to team up with a sponsor that pays you per install..you'd be maximizing your profits this way.

See... I'm all for helping Msg Plus!... The only reason I don't download the sponsor is because I would NEVER use it... I google or yahoo anything I need to search so it wouldn't really pay... I think spreading the use of it is all I can do for now!
Perfect example ^^

Agreed... the only problem with that for the sponsor would be people that have to reinstall and yeah ;) it'd be too hard to keep track of or whatever.

Ohh... believe me, you don't want me to do that. If an advertisement company pays you by install, you give them a free pass on your users' computers and they'll install as much stuff as possible to maximise their own benefits (including porn of course). Being paid by use lets me have some flexibility over what is installed and what is not and don't worry, I have nothing to complain about these days, a lot of people do use the search bar, as they do for other bars :).

I believe Patchou had added some changes to the message you get prior to installation so yes, as far as I know it will still be there in Messenger Plus! 3.60

Of course.

I dunno what changes were made to the installer, but I don't think flashing should be in there... :-/ The point is not to scare off the users, but to let them know what they can install.

Sometimes I install it and use it for a while... Not real searchs, of course, but visiting the sites is not that bad.

You dedicate a couple of minutes every other day for those searchs and it helps Patchou. (Y) (unless you do it in an automated-like way and they don't pay him; the clicks must be "realistic", IIRC)

And, yes, I agree with mwe, don't ask Patchou about how much he earns.
