massrv.exe takes 100 cpu (mcafee)
can't start task manager
can't start anythin else cuz "not enough resources"
konfabulator ram meter says "error"
and now in the biddle of a song, winamp froze and an annoying sound started which i can't stop :(

win xp pro sp2

the only thing i installed in the past few days is spysweeper and a video to flash converter

what  do i do? :(

Does massrv.exe use up 100% cpu as soon as you boot up?  Each time you restart?

Are you sure the massrv.exe running is actually mcafee and not something pretending to be it?  Such as a virus or trojan etc?
SoundPacks   -   Scripts   -   Skins

that's not a bug, thats an unexpected feature

You can try disabling it, so it doesn't start up upon boot.

Boot up Windows in safe mode (F8 just before Windows logo appears), use Administrator user, then go to MSNCONFIG and disable this file under STARTUP tab, then make a fresh reinstall of mcafee or you can try also another antivirus software.

O.P. RE: PC is messed
i'll install a fresh copy later, and i don't see the point of going in safe mode to disable it...

Have you tried running msconfig from the start menu and disabling mcafee?..You can try deleting mcafee and see if that helps or even running spybot or adware to see what it is.  I think mcafee is a huge resource hog  though.
