O.P. Cant use internet on network [SOLVED]
I just installed my new motherboard for my pc, so i have a new lan controller. but for some reason i cant access the internet or files on the host computer on the network. ive followed the network trouble shooter, but still no luck. any ideas?
would i have to remove the existing connection and make a new one on both computers because my lan controller changed?
it was fine before, only stopped working after the new motherboard

yup, i used the cd that came with the motherbaord, it installed the chipset, audio, lan etc.

Try right clicking the lan icon and clicking repair.

goto start, goto run, type cmd
copy and paste the result of "ipconfig/all & tracert msghelp.net"

Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > right click on "Local Area Connection 1" and select "properties" > select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) then click Properties > select "Obtain an IP address automatically". > Okay and Okay to close it.

that was already done
on the host it says its connected, but on the client, its limited or no connectivity
also i cannot ping ANY 192.168 address, but i can ping the actual ip of the host from the client
i also cannot use ipconfig /renew becuase it cannot contact the DHCP, although it is enabled

Try the Network connection wizard, reconfigure your network, so your server can provide the IP via DHCP.
