Hey guys!

I have this nasty Chaintech 7aja0 motherboard, what supports ECC RAMs but unfortunately it doesn't boot up when I insert 256MB ECC SDRAM. Instead booting up, it beeps uncountable times. All memory slots work fine with old 128MB SDRAM. Any ideas?

Are you sure you're putting in the correct RAM strip? Mobo's can be very funny about which RAM strips you put in them.

Well, I tryed all three slots. It doesn't matter much because that slot only accepts correct SDRAM sticks.

Maybe the ECC RAM module is the faulty one. Try it in another computer.

Or that motherboard can't handle 256MB strips.

On Chaintech's website found two models: the  7AJA2 and the 7AJA2E.

The first one obviously supports three 256MB modules and the second one supports 3 512MB modules and both support ECC. That's why I think the memory module could be bad...

And before somebody says "hey, neither are the 7AJA0"... well, couldn't find it on Chaintech's website and here's a review for a "7AJA" that shows similar specs of the "7AJA2". The link provided by rix is for a "7AJA" too and that's similar to the "7AJA2E"... blah, both support 256MB and ECC O_o

Now i've tryed it in another comp, where it worked fine. After i compared BIOS settings, i changed my comps DRAM CLOCK to HOST CLK and after that it started to work fine. Occasion or relation?

That's probably why the RAM wouldn't work: the BIOS RAM clock was set to the wrong speed.
