O.P. Messenger Plus! 100% CPU Crash Problem?
I've been using MP!L (4.01) and WLM (8.0.0.787) for quite a while now, but for some reason it's begun crashing (ie, the CPU usage goes up to 100%, the system grinds to a halt, and the program becomes unresponsive).
I tried some things, which I thought might fix it:
- Upgraded to 8.0.0.812
- Removed all my plugins
- Reinstalled both Messenger Plus! and WLM.
- Uninstalled Messenger Plus! and checked if the problem still occured - it didn't.
- Reinstalled Messenger Plus! and played with some of the options. (Tabbed chats were my first thought, no-go)
- Uninstalled my WinAmp now playing plugin and turned off "What I'm listening to."
Anyone any ideas what could be causing this?

well if you've been using it for awhile and this has recently happened maybe its something else? did you dowload anything new recently? any new programs or games... maybe try scanning your computer for viruses or something

O.P. RE: Messenger Plus! 100% CPU Crash Problem?
Recently I have moved a lot of my programs over to a new partition layout (windows on C, programs *manually* installed on D (i never changed the program files directory) and downloads on P), however the problem happened a while before this.
I'm certain my PC is virus-free... I'll poke around more when I get home.

Trying using WLMessenger after you remove MSG Plus! live. If your CPU still max up, it will mean that WLMessenger is the one that is taking up that much.
If so, try a clean installation. If the problem still persist, downgrade to 7.5 and wait for the newer version of WLMessenger. If you still insist on having WLMessenger, I doubt your CPU can stand that much.

Uninstalled Messenger Plus! and checked if the problem still occured - it didn't.
And also, if a 3200+ barton can't withstand WLM, I think it's headed down the crapper.
It seems to be working alright tonight, although I've turned "What I'm listening to" off again.
As I said before, there are definetly no viruses loaded into memory, and asides from this, there are no other programs which show this behaviour.
I'll keep playing, see if I can reproduce the problem in some way or another.

RE: Messenger Plus! 100% CPU Crash Problem?
ive had this damn problem since january it wont go away no matter what i do. as soon as i click any type of mmsn messanger including windows, live, plus/live plus, old versions. my cpu usage on task manager goes 100% and the comp barely moves from there until i go to task manager and click to end the msnmsgr.exe process manually which takes 10 mins ni itself.
-i have no virus or spyware or anything like that ive checked lots
-ive clean installed everything
-ive asked an expert on bigblueball forums too for private help n the matter but he has no ide either weve tried about everything
onlyb1 thing has ever worked before and it was only for a day unktil i restarted my computer and now it doesnt work again. fully uninstalling macromedia flash player from registry and comp then reinstalling it fresh but i have no idea why this helped
the main problem is the process msnmsgr.exe however other problems i have of similar nature are around like windows media player whenever i try to play any type of video on it. ive worked around this problem althought i prefer wmp. i use vcl player instead just for vids which is annoying.
please any help much appreciated i need to get msn up and running in a few months foolproof. anything else you need to know feel free to ask
thx alot for reading hope to hear from you soon

RE: Messenger Plus! 100% CPU Crash Problem?
List everything in detail which you've tried before.
Go to your taskmanager (CTRL-ALT-DEL) and take a screenshot of all your processes when you've started Messenger.
Uninstall Messenger Plus!, if the problem is still there (which I think it will) then it is certainly not a Messenger Plus! problem (this thread and forum is about Messenger Plus!)
If you say it also happens with eg: WMP then it certainly isn't a Messenger Plus! problem.
