Every time I receive a instant message on windows live messenger a couple of minutes later my internet connection is disabled. It won't come back on until I reset my router ( I think thats what I'm doing anyway), I believe I'm using 8.0 but I am not entirely sure. Should I upgrade?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Oh, and I am not that computer savvy so I would need layman's terms, please, or as best as you can do.

You dont really lose anything by updating, so install 8.1 (the latest one) and see how it goes.

ARe you sure its Windows Live Messenger thats causing the problem? So if someone sends you a message your whole internet disconnects? Try not going on WLM, and Im pretty sure it will disconenct either way.

Yeah I'm sure, I didn't go on msn for a month and my internet was fine, but when I used it once I got disconnected within 5 minutes.

Do you have zone alarm?

Try disabling it.

What would cause Zone Alarm to do that?

Also, I really don't want to disable it, isn't there another way?
