skinning for 9 is a bit different, the internal layouts have changed a fair amount and RLE's encryption has changed too, willz utilises RLE's in his skins and until 9.0beta rle's are reverse engineered and a conversion tool created for the select few. Most of his skins will not function at all, also he would totally need to recreate his custom toolbar elements, and learn all the new element names and positions, also there are about 3x as many GUI windows to be skinned, and some have different named elements between them too, so no simple copy past jobs between styles and definitions.

Maybe when 9.0 is finalised, we're well overdue a beta2 now too

hah yeah none of my major releases will be wlm 9 compatible and its not just for the RLE reason, its due to the fact that wlm 9 isn't meant to be widespread and there is a large amount of people who are using it that really shouldn't be. But yeah the main issue is RLE, can't decrypt them just yet so it makes it a major pain.

Anyway yes wlm 9.0 skinning has gotten a lot harder, I have looked at the new tags and am familiar with some of the oddities. I know for a fact that a lot of my restructured code will have to be written from scratch and adapted to fit 9.0.

So yeah I am not willing to do that on something the will inevitably be updated and forcing me to rewrite the skin again :P

Hopefully people will realize soon enough that if they do want to use skins they will have to choose between using a leaked version of messenger...... or a perfectly stable version that the majority of skinners make skins for. Leave the beta's for the beta testers, as when you use beta's you sacrifice compatibility with skins and scripts.

well, the majority have the risk yes.

I try to make mine compatible at the moment as I'm a tester myself but stuff you've helped me with willz 'OR' ;) had lots of issues getting that bar to work in 9, haven't tried the contact list or chat window conversion yet, as those had even more mods in, also shame I can't get our other idea done for today :P
