I want to use Messenger Live from a satellite connection but the cost of the data is very expensive. Is there any way to limit the Messenger sent/received data or compress the messages?

The only way to do this would be to use a Webmessenger client that has as simplistic an interface as possible to restrict the amount of data transmitted (removing display pictures, etc)
How about filtering unessential packets and simply blocking them if they are unneeded.
Also, avoid the obvious like photo sharing, webcam, calls, games etc. You could also use a web based messenger like ebuddy, iloveim or the official web based messenger. (very basic indeed though)

You still have to receive ALL information from the server else the client doesn't know what it can or can't do... It may miss messages if it didn't receive ALL of them

You still have to receive ALL information from the server else the client doesn't know what it can or can't do... It may miss messages if it didn't receive ALL of them
