ive been experiencing broken log files, where when i have someone in more than one convo window (like a group convo of which they are a member and a private convo) each time i switch between the windows msg plus logs the things said as a new convo. it's easier if i give an example so here goes:

(!VER):

Windows Version: Windows XP, 5.01.2600
Messenger Client Version: 6.1.0155
Messenger Plus! Version: 2.54.0074

ive also tried: msn 6.1.0207 and 6.1.0211
i dont recall it happening pre-msg plus 2.5 but it may have.....im pretty sure it didnt in any case.

all im doing is switching between  windows, i dont know if this is a bug or not but its very very annoying, if it infact isnt a bug could mass convos be logged seperately? or at least could msg plus log convos that start first above convos that start later in chat logs.  ty

It's made on purpose...well however I would say it's a limitation - if Plus! continuously logs a conversation session, it has to open the chatlog file without closing it. And then when Plus! tries to write another conversation session into the chatlog file, it would fail So it acts what it does right now.

hmm i can see how it could be technically difficult but surely an option to log mass convos *seperately* wouldnt be hard at all?

in fact it's a limitation but that shouldn't happen so often: 22:17:24, 22:19:12, 22:18:43, 22:19:16

did you use the /viewlog, /part or /close commands? did you close the conversation window? did you change anything in the registry? did you change the time a conversation is saved (default is 30 minutes, if i remember well)? were you using different accounts (ie: one for talking private and the other for the group convo)?

it wouldn't fail but would mix conversations (the same as Tranquil Havok posted but withoput headers).

yep that's annoying and that option would be great. However, the default behaviour of plus isn't that. In fact Plus do mix conversations when you're chating in private and in a group with the same person, however, it mixes bigger parts of the convos, not line by line. (i mean, you can find mixed parts every 10 miinutes or more, for example).

okay well im using a testing system for ms so basically im on xp sp2 atm and well i need logs to be saved very often so i dont lose important chat logs if my system goes down. that said i get msg plus to save my msgs every 1 min and thats obviously the cause of this. though id very much like to request a feature such as seperate logging of mass convos, do i need to request that somewhere else or will patchou read this post anyway?

I think he'll read this thread (even if he doesn't reply). Posting a new thread about the same of this one is only make more work to patchou because he'd have to read both.

I read the post, don't worry . So, what you would like is a log file where everything you say in any chat is recorded in one block, is that right?

noo, lol. id just like an option to log all convos with more than 2 members to be saved in one *seperate* chat log rather than in the chat log for each member respectively.
That way each chat i have with someone is in a single block(in the log) reguardless of what other convos that we're both a member of. It would make it so much easier to find something they've said in a private convo to me when the mass convos we're both a member of arent in the same log. btw thanks for the amazingly quick reply!!

The problem is that what you're requesting could become rapidely anoying depending on the circumstance... there's no perfect way to do it, sorry . However, if you're searching for somethign someonw said, it shouldn't be very difficult as there's only one log for each contact. The only thing I can see that would help solve your problem is to set back auto-save to at least 10 minutes.

Note: you would make me a very happy man if you could send me yoru beta version of WindowsXP SP2, there's somethign I watewnd to test in it. If that's ok with you, just send me an email to mplus@patchou.com and I'll create an account on my FTP server .
