hi folks, i just installed MSN Plus!(3.01) and it will not work at all, i can select items from the menus in chat windows, but nomatter what i pick nothing comes up in the chat, also if i type the code as a mesage (e.g if i type (!VER))  the text just comes up - not what is supposed to come up, the only part of plus that seems to work is the main msn window items (remove ad banner, notification when user goes offline etc), i cant work out whats up lol

specs are below if ya need em

Windows 2003 Server Enterprise
MSN Messenger 6.2
Messenger Plus 3.01

Do you happen to have Smileycentral installed? If so uninstall that, it causes these kinda probs

nope i have got nothing installed other than messenger plus

Ok, try uninstalling and reinstalling plus an see if it works. If not u mite wanna uninstall and reinstall MSN aswell.

Also make sure u got plus from this site: http://www.msgplus.net/ if u dl-ed it elsewhere that file mite have been corrupted

i tried the uninstall/reinstall for both msn plus and msn, nither work - and thats the only site i ever download messenger plus off lol

First off its Messenger Plus! not MSN Plus!. MSN Plus! is a piece of software made by Microsoft to enhance features of Windows, and Messenger Plus! is made by Patchou for MSN Messenger. Please correct this in your posts.

If you are running Windows XP then you can give this a try.

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in msconfig
Click on OK

Click on the Startup Tab at the top
For each item listed check them with this website. (http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php)

Now a possible reason why this would happen is when Plus! doesn't properly hook MSN Messenger the exe. Possibly because MSN Messenger is starting up before Messenger Plus!.

When you open msconfig which startup first? MsgPlus or msnmsgr (MSN Messenger)?


Try this
Open the Plus! Preferences (Plus! Menu on the Main Contact List)
Click Preferences
Under General Options click Miscellaneous
Check the last 2 Options...
   --> Display recovery window when Plus! menu is not active
   --> Fore Messenger Plus! to load when computer starts

nither - i have msn messenger set up not to load on startup.
and messenger plus only starts when i start msn i think
