RE: problem with emoticon sound
First of all make sure the use of soundcommands is enabled: plus > preferences> instant messages > commands and tags (tab) check: "allow the use of commands and tags" and "allow sound commands" ( i have all options checked inthere)

In plus > preferences > general options > sound config (tab) choose MPEG1 codec...if that doesnt work switch codecs there.

If it still doesnt work...go to windowsupdate and update/reinstall Windows Media player.

The codecs are needed for the sounds (maybe some weren't installed cuz u dint install the player)...try changin codes as i described above, see if that works ;)

Note: the person ur testing the sounds with needs to have plus installed also.

Wich sounds don't u hear? the plus commands ones (i assumed u ment those)? or did u install soundpacks? If u installed soundpacks u will also need audiator wich can be found here: audiator homepage and again for this also goes both contacts need to have it installed.

To hear the plus sounds u don't need audiator...if u checked/done all the things i posted in my first post it should work...last thing that mite help is reinstalling plus (safemode, on account called "administrator").

Also do an update on ur OS (windowsupdate).

Unless you are an Windows expert and know exactly what you're doing, this is a very bad idea. Yes, it can cause troubles for all sort of things....

Anyways, try installing Windows Media Player to make sure you have all the updated and working codecs.

Also, do as Sunshine told you, update Windows. And while doing so, also make sure you have all the updated components of DirectX.
