2 messengers at the same time?

O.P. 2 messengers at the same time?
My problem: i share my computer with my brother and he is always automatically logged on on msn messenger. Now the problem is that, even when i log on (on msn messenger 6.1), another earlier version of MSN Messenger logs him on. That doesn't happen all the time, but if it does, sometimes you see two icons of msn messenger in the icon-bar at the bottom of the screen. If there are two icons, then i just log him off, but most of the time you don't see a second one.
It is really annoying to have people of his contacts-list start to talk to me all of a sudden and i have no idea what i can do to fix that.

Can anybody help me?

Thanx

1) Make sure the other program is MSN Messenger not Windows Messenger...
2) Go to the Control Panel (classic view) and look for add/remove programs...how many versions of MSN Messenger are there? How many versions of MSN Messenger are there?
3) Do you use a patched version of MSN Messenger? (Games Patch, Polygamy, Skinned ect.)
4) Update to the latest version of MSN Messenger (6.2.0137) from http://messenger.msn.com/

i am pretty sure that it is MSN Messenger, because it has 'Msgplus Rocks' at the top of every conversation.

I see Messenger Plus; MSN Messenger 6.1 and (roughly translated) an MSN application for Windows Messenger (maybe this is the problem?)

No

Do i have to delete that application?
Downloading a new version doesn't help either...

Bookie, ask ur brother not to log in automaticly anymore ;)

To alter this: Tools, Options, General (tab)
uncheck "automaticly run Messenger when i log on to Windows" and also uncheck "Allow automatic sign in when connected to the internet".

By doin this MSN Messenger will not start on startup anymore...click the MSN messenger icon to start it. Note: your brother can still sign in "automaticly" meanin without typin his password by clickin on the login button and u can login underneath it (u have to type in ur password every time).

That doesn't prove anything at all, load up the main messenger and it'll say either Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger at the top...

I already tried to stop the automatically signing in, but it doesn't help.

And now that i need to know what exactly the second program is, it doesn't show up anymore... (i have my brother on my contacts list too and if the second program is running, i see him online, but now i don't...)

And i wouldn't know how to attach a screenshot or even make one... sorry

Anywayz... I'll come by later when i know more...

Thanks a lot for the help (K)

I think the program that still automaticly signs ur brother in is windowsmessenger, take a look at this post: http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=26...d=258821#pid258821

To disable the log in at start up

Start>run> type in "control userpasswords2" without the quotes> advance (tab) >"manage passwords" and delete "passport.net" (or something like that). I hope that helped you with that problem.

I dont know why it would run two msns, it does on mine because i have the polygram patch on my msn, but other than that, i wouldnt know. Unless its msn messenger and windows messenger that opens.

Don't use that for disabling Windows Messenger... Some plugins or other functionality could stop working if you do this... Check this thread for detailed info about this...

The Napster, stop posting that program and give the URL to that thread instead.
