Phone cords aren't expensive. Don't know the actual prices though.

Others told you what wasn't possible?  Transfering files between computers? 

Menthix posted a picture of the cable you'll need, and a link to a program you'll need too.  If you want detailed instructions, they come with the program Menthix suggested.

you can use a serial cable that enters your printer port on both computers.. than with the program called "tranxit" you can transfer files from computer to computer.. me and my father did this back in the days when we didn't have internet and no network
