Appriciated the extensive explaination, BUT.... This has been discussed multiple times before and in VERY recent threads. And it was also already explained why this can't be done/isn't relaible in those same threads....
Wow... what a massive and time consuming document you've made there just for making one simple suggestion.
Next time, just write "Hi. I'd like to suggest a new Plus! feature: Translate-on-the-fly in instant messages! Kind regards, Michael."
Oh, and I don't see any reason why it should be impossible to implement...
It would just require some way to use Babelfish's translation feature without having to visit their website.

Why specifying "Messenger Plus General Talk"? Who said this topic is found there? I mean, don't specify too much, keep your search as global as possible... The forum field should almost never be used when you search for something.
Stuffplug does this (the original, not NG)! You type /xtranslate eg /xtranslate en|fr to translate from english to french. It uses google translate I believe.
Thank you for the big document, I read it, the ideas are good, but I can't do it for several reasons. People who chat uses a lot of special expressions and, more importantly, you rarely add a contact to your list who doesn't speak the same language as you. If Stuffplug already provides some kind of translation help, I'm sure it will be sufficient for your needs.
