My MSN Messenger 6.2 is very very very slow when trasnferring files, especially mp3s.

Any idea of what can be done?

I have

RE: Slow Transfer of Files
It's probably because of your Firewall disallowing a direct connection to your contacts for file transfer.  If you have a router, it may also be a problem. The solution is to open/forward the ports required for file transfer on MSN by configurating your firewall/router.

Or turn on UPnP in your firewall and/or router.

I do not have a router. I am connected with wireless internet in a VPN.

My Firewall seems to give access to MSN no problem.
I do have the UPnP on but I am not quite sure about the ports part. I read the article but I dunno how to open or even if the problems lies there.

I alsocannot establish an audio conversation, I dunno if that is related to the same thing.

cheers

So you only have one connection to the internet?
Possibly the VPN switch is blocking the connection.
Are you positive that you are not behind a NAT?

Even though I dont know what NAT is, I checked my Zone Alarm and it says that 'this computer is not in an ICS/NAT network'
