Microsoft AntiSpyware has detected the threat Messenger Plus! trying to install a Startup Registry Entry on your computer. If you would like to allow Messenger Plus! to install the Startup Registry Entry click the 'Allow' button below.

Name: Messenger Plus!
Type: Adware Bundler
Threat Level: Moderate
Author: Patchou

Description: Messenger Plus! is an add-on for MSN Messenger. Messenger Plus! installs an optional adware called C2Media which is also known as LOP.com.

Advise: This software is not necessarily adware. However, it does install other adware programs as well as perform potential hazardous actions on your computer. In either case this software is not to be trusted.
Since this application gives you the option to not install the adware that comes bundled, we recommend ignoring it.

About Adware Bundler: A Bundler is a software program that installs adware on your computer either with your permission or without. Most of the software classified as a bundler requires that the adware program(s) be installed in order for the actual software to complete installation or run. In addition in most cases if the adware is removed the software will seize to function as well.

Indeed, this was reported the day Microsoft's Anti-Spyware software was released. There have been numerous threads about this since then. Even so, thank you for taking time to report it to the Messenger Plus! community :)

Someone needs to beat the correct information into Microsoft. I bet several of the Messenger team use Plus with or without the sponsor, so they'll know enough about it to know it isn't a threat.

'Tis only a threat if you can't read.

There seems to be nothing wrong with that. Messenger Plus! does indeed try to install that startup registry entry even when installed without sponsor. It's part of how it works.

The problem is that you might become suspicious because of the description shown below. However, this alert has nothing to do with the sponsor program and you should allow this as it enables Plus! to start properly :)
