O.P. Plus 3.25.106 and WM 5.1
Windows Messenger 5.1 has been out for 2 months (14 Dec 2004).  Do we know exactly when Plus will work with 5.1?  Logging is broken, personalized status is broken, pretty much the only 2 reasons I use Plus.  I really need this working but am hesitant on installing a beta because of the previous betas have broken more than they fixed.

BTW, I went ahead and tried the 3.4.112 beta and it still doesn't fix the problems with the 2 month old WM 5.1.  I would encourage Patchou to release an updated beta version with that support.  Once the cat's out of the bag with one beta release, making us wait around for newer builds only adds to the frustration level.  I fully understand what beta is about and that things may or may not work right, but most betas are usually followed up by another beta and with a version of Messenger that's over 2 months old (again, it was released 14 Dec 2004) those of us who have needs that only WM can provide (Exchange support for example) we're stuck without a working version of Plus.  I've had to resort to Trillian so I can have logs and I can't stand Trillian, I really want my Plus-modified interface back.  So I really hope we'll see an updated beta that actually supports WM 5.1 sooner rather than later.

He said 3.5 was a March release, that makes it 3 months out from the release of WM 5.1 and it's never taken Patchou that long to support new versions.  I guess MSN's vaporware 7 is more important than a RTM build of 5.1.  Just frustrating...

I'm sorry, but yes it is... it's just that way more people use that. But the main thing is... Plus! is already updated for MSN5.1, but in Plus! 3.50. Patchou doesn't want to release it to public beta like he did with 3.40 BETA, because 3.50 has some big new features like custom sounds. He wan't to be 100% sure there are nog major bug in it before everybody starts using them.

But yeah, i can understand it's frustrating. I've been using MSN4.7 as long as i could, because i hated 6.2... it really irritated me when things were supported on 6.2, but not 4.7 :).

The fact remains that MSN 7 is unsupported MS vaporware and WM 5.1 is RTM and in fact a required upgrade from MS due to last week's requirement that all 5.0 and earlier users upgrade or be kicked off.  IMHO, RTM products deserve the attention and leave the vaporware for later and RTM products shouldn't have to wait for 3 months, espeically if it the ad-ware portion is installed.  I won't install it any more if I can't count on prompt updates (3 months does not equal prompt updates).

Well, then i guess you shouldn't install Plus! anymore. It's not like you pay for Messenger Plus!. It's a free thing which you can use if you like it, leave it if you don't.

There's nothing that says Plus! should have compatible updates for new MSN version in a certain time, if fact Patchou could have decieded to stop the older MSN generation a long time ago, because it's probally less then 5% of all his users who use it. But he didn't, so be glad with whatever you get.

There's nobody stopping you from un-installing Plus! if you don't like it.

This time, no update for the new Windows Messenger was released simply because I was working on the sound feature and that's not something I can easily disable in my software to make an in-between update. Don't worry, version 3.50 will be released in March for sure and it's 100% compatible with Windows Messenger 5.1.
