O.P. Suggestion: Better Management of Group Conversations
Hi,

Hopefully I posted this in the right place.

Currently Messenger's management of group conversations is very poor. When someone invites you to join a conversation, it just adds you to the conversation without even asking you if you want to join. This is very annoying, especially if someone keeps inviting you into a conversation and you don't want to be in one right now.

Maybe there can be a new Messenger Plus feature that can better manage group conversations. It would do 2 things:

1. Allow the user to choose whether he or she wants to join the group conversation or not

2. Allow the user to block all incoming group conversation invitations. This is if you don't want to join any group conversations period.

Let's take a scenario here:

Let's say Person A is in a group conversation with some people and wants Person B to join the conversation. Person A sends an invitation to Person B to join the conversation.

Person B gets a toast-style pop up saying: Person A is inviting you to join a conversation.

Once Person B makes the conversation window active, he or she is presented with a dialogue box saying the following:

Person A has invited you to join a conversation with the following people:

*insert list of people in the conversation here*

With the message: *insert personal message from Person A here*

Would you like to accept the invitation?

If Person B clicks accept:
A message is sent to the group conversation saying the following: Person B has been added to the conversation, and Person B's windows turns into the group conversation.

If Person B clicks decline:
A message is sent to the group conversation saying the following: Person B has declined your invitation to join the conversation with the message: *insert personal message from Person B here*, and the window on Person B's side closes.

Messenger Plus should also have an option in Preferences that says: Decline all incoming group conversation invitations. This is if you don't want to join any conversations period.

I don't think it's possible unless the other person has Plus!, as it would require some special signals from Plus! to be transmitted.

It's sounds very handy, but as Chaotic_Shield said: it's probably not possible (unless the other person has Plus!). But the suggestion is very good, maybe they should just add it in MSN Messenger instead :)

There was a MSN Messenger chat a few weeks ago (or a month ago, I can't remember), with the MSN Messenger team (the ones who program this chat client) and someone suggested them this very same thing. One team member said it seemed good and they'll look into it. Maybe they'll do this for the final or for later versions. *-)

Afaik, Plus! can't do anything about it.

Hack, hack, hack!

Yeah i like the idea as well but it seems like the kind of thing which can only be done by msn itself

:D yes, it is very annoying when this happens! I remember once I was added to this large convo with so many ppl from my contact list I wasn't sure who added me...and they just kept on adding me! I got so frustrated I blocked my whole contact list for the night. MSN should give people the option to join or not to join these conversations or to disable invites!
