O.P. What is the difference in XP x64?
I know there have been beta's released for the new Windows XP x64 eddition I'm assuming the only improvment or change is the fact that's it's 64 bit now correct?  Will all the programs that work in the current version of XP work in XP x64?

Just curious

It is pretty much only for 64-bit processors, and its not fully compatible with much stuff really yet so, there is no point at all...

AMD Athlon 64 and stuff would be appropriate...

It will ONLY run on a processor with 64-bit architecture.

Basically it makes Windows itself run faster for 64-bit processors AND it makes APPs launch/shutdown faster. That's about it now bcz of how few things take advantage of x64.

Btw - your processor is 32-bit, mine's 64-bit (I have an AMD Athlon 64 3500+)

Just means it can do more things at once bascially :). Did any of you read on Neowin that Intel are testing their P4 64bit?

Look up on the web

Only AMD have made 64 bit processers that are available for desktop pcs

So that rules out your processer
