O.P. Undecided  Registry problem
Ok, so I just checked my registries.

I found a weird "folder" labeled "S" under HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Yes, it is just S.

It looks like this.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- S
  - P
    - my MSN account number
    - my other MSN account number

Both account number contain:
MsgPrivacy   REG_DWORD   1
Prompt         REG_DWORD   0

Should I delete this folder?

RE: Registry problem
I have that too, but only one number under "P", and I don't think it's an account number... it's a UNIX timestamp. :-/

It's an account number.

I recognize my account numbers.

Just to confirm, can you check here?
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger

RE: Registry problem
I have it too. Only 1 account number in my case.

Searched Google, seems to be Windows Messenger settings:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\S\P\2846389128
(where the final number may vary according to machine)

was recreated, (if I deleted it) each time I ran Windows Messenger version
4.7.3000
It is NOT created, when running the version of Windows Messenger prior to XP
Service Pack 2 (ie version 4.7.2009)
My advise would be leave it there. Harmless Windows Messenger settings, wierd Microsoft didn't put it in a regular key though.

EDIT: Confirmed, the number is your Messenger account ID.

Well, the numbers do match... I wonder if the account numbers are UNIX timestamps... :p

The date associated with the timestamp is in early 2004, when I first got this PC, which makes sense if it's really a timestamp. It would be a strange coincidence otherwise...

No timestamps for my ID, guess you're just lucky WDZ :).
