O.P. Messenger Notification Sounds
The computer that I use for Messenger is shared between the household. Whenever I log out of my personal area I only select the 'Switch User' option as not to have to close all of my running programs or sign out of MSN (I just appear offline).

However, when somebody else signs in to their area, because I am still signed in, whenever somebody on my contact list signs in the notification noise happens. This means that the person on the omputer gets the noise even if it's not a cvontact on their contact list.

Hope you understand what I mean? It would be good if the sounds could automatically be turned off when not actually signed into my area.

RE: Messenger Notification Sounds
it would be a cool feature, but for now you can disable the sound options manually in plus! and in msn (in msn messenger for instance in "options" under "alerts and sounds") and in plus! preferences under "notifications"?

i'm not sure if that's what you meant. :|
sorry if i misunderstood.

Edit:
Eitherway if it happened automatically it would be much easier.

Yeah I understand that it is easy to do in the options and preferences, but it's just a hassle every time I switch users on the computer. It would just be handy to do it automatically.

Well, Messenger Plus! already does that for its own sounds (starting withversion 3.50). If you disable the sign-in sounds of Messenger and enable the sign-in notification option in Messenger Plus!, it should do the trick.

Thanks for your response.

Well I have tried applying sounds through Plus! instead of using the MSN Messenger sounds but the sounds still happen when somebody signs in on my contact list when another user is signed on to their area on this computer.

If you are unsure what I mean I will explain.
- This is a home computer that is shared by six users (siblings, parents, me.)
- When I sign into my user area I sign into MSN.
- If nobody interesting is online I appear offline.
- If I then get bored I will signb out of my user area and go and do something else.
- However, I do not 'Log Off' of my area, I just 'Switch User' so that I don't have to sing out of MSN or terminate my internet connection.
- When somebody else signs in to their user area (i.e. sister), a notification sound is still made when someone signs in on my contact list as I am still signed in. Sister gets annoyed!:P
