O.P. Main Contact list, Remove smilies from name? [msn 7]
Hey guys

Don't know if this is right section to post but ok.
Do you know if there is a way to turn off the smilies in ppl's names (main contact list).
I can do it with the custom name option in Messenger Plus, but it also kills the smilies in chat conversation names, so that's a bummer :(
Anyone having a idea or solution for it, because the smilies also lag my scrolling trough the list and they are annoying.

Thanks in advance
Eric

I actually find that option to be very useful.  I simply rename the contact...essentially removing the emoticons from the name, and contact list...which from my understanding, is the exact same.  Once you modify the contact name list, you've modified it for your conversations as well...so I am not quite sure what you want to achieve can be done.

One of the things that my friends on my list seem to think is necessary, is to constantly rename themselves....especially when it comes to the mood they are in.  I simply find this to be extremely annoying, because at times I am left guessing as to who they are since I don't really bother trying to remember them by their email addys.

you could create a custom name for your contacts with "(!N)" so it shows their original nickname without smiles, but yes in your IM windows this would disable emoticons :(

By simply enabling custom names it will remove emoticons from the list.

I'm Meaning Enabling Custom Names, But not give any of your contacts a Name.

This way Emoticons will disappear from their names, In The main contact windows (Msn7!, what i want to), but also in chat screens.

Is there a way to disable the emoticons in names on the Main window in ppl's names, but leave them active in chat screen names?
