Sometimes i set my status to appear offline cos i don't want everyone hassling me but then i see person A is online and i really need to talk to A but don't want everyone trying to talk to me.

My question is thus, is it at all possible to keep the appear offline to all but that one person?

Not from my knowledge...

You can however just block all your contacts using Cyberdude's - Block all contacts plugin then appear online and unblock the contact you need to talk to

well u can use messenger discovery and use a thing call offline talking. it will mean u have to block all your contacts tho, thus they won't be able to start chats with u as u as u appear offline, but u can start chats with them http://www.messengerdiscovery.com

i think stuffplug-NG has a feature simular to this too, but no sure on that on http://www.stuffplug.com

Better than using MD would be using Stuff Plug's Talk to Blocked Contats feature, then login as appearring offline, block all contacts using my block all contacts plugin as Third Dimension talks about.. And after oyu've done that go online, and you will appear offline to everybody (becase you blocked them) but still be able to talk to only the people you want to talk to... ... This is the only reason why I created the Block All contacts plugin..
