how can I save the emoticons in a folder if I already use them in msn?
is there any registry key that I can modify to save emoticons on the pc?

They must be saved somewhere on your PC, if you're using Win XP, maybe you could find them somehwere in this folder : C:\Documents and Settings\(user)\Application Data\Microsoft\
Edit : Just readed what was said on the link before. It IS POSSIBLE, you'll have to rename all files manually, and re-add them manually. (Or use the program that can contain spywares)

You can use a program that will back up emoticons, display pictures and backgrounds too a folder on your HDD, and then you can backup that folder onto a CD/floppy.
