O.P. How can i launch msgplus.exe and Msn Messenger in one click ?
Hi all,

I have just installed Messenger Plus, and I have noticed that it sets msgplus.exe to be launched at windows startup.

The thing is : I don't constantly use MSN Messenger, and when i don't use it, i'd prefer not to have msgplus.exe running in the background.

Of course, if i uncheck msgplus.exe at windows wtartup with msconfig, Plus won't load and its features won't be available in MSN.

So my question is : is there a way to load automatically msgplus.exe ONLY when  MSN Messenger is started ?

(Yeah, i know, if I load msgplus.exe just before running messenger, it will work fine, but hey : that's two clicks !!!)

Thanks for your help !

Regards.

Set Plus! to alternate mode: Plus > preferences > miscellanious...under recovery options, switch that to alternate, then reboot. Start MSNM, teh kill msgplus.exe in taskmanager

It might not stop msgplus from starting on start up of windows (could be used for something else), but if you kill msgplus.exe..Plus! will reappear when starting up MSNM. To check if it's working: Start MSNM, the kill msgplus.exe in taskmanager and restart MSNM.

Note: make sure you don't have anything runninig that prevents writing in the registry when setting it to alternate mode.

Sunshine is right.. if you use Alternate Attach mode and if it works on your computer, then you can just remove msgplus.exe from your startup (note that this procedure is not supported, ifyou have any problem after that, just reinstall Plus!).

Thanks everyone : this is exactly what i wanted. I've simply set MSGPlus on the alternative mode and then killed msgplus.exe with msconfig, and it works like a charm : no msgplus.exe on startup, but MsgPlus still works when I start MSN Messenger.

I didn't know the "alternative mode" was supposed to behave like this...

Thanks again & regards.

You're welcome. Alternate mode is new and only available in Windows 2000/XP ;)

For more info about this, see Msg Plus! Changelog
