I beg to differ, have you read the MSN messenger TOS?  Anything that modifies it is illegal.  I didnt blame WDZ for anything, I accually applaud him for not banning me.  I just retorted to his comment, as you are doing right now.  Thats what forums are for, retorting.

well to be fair, WDZ said nothing close to being "smug". People genreally respond better on this forum if the thread makes sense in the first place. It also helps if the first post in a thread makes sense.

it doesnt modify anything in the exe, it just hooks it, therefore not illegal

We already know about Trillian. A community that is based around MSN/Windows Messenger and Messenger Plus! would already be aware of a Chat Client that uses the MSN Messenger Servers.

Doesnt matter if it mods the EXE or anything else.  If it modifies one bit of information (for the binary challenged it would be changing a 1 to a 0) it is illegal, therefore voiding the TOS.

I certainely do not. The new custom sound feature costs a lot of money every month to maintain so I cannot allow other programs to use it (I emailed the creators of the plugin, I hope they will understand my point).

Please.... let's not start a pointless war between our two different forums. The internet is big enough for both of us . I thank you skry for posting a link to this page, it allowed me to contact the distributor of the plugin. I easily tolerate "compatibility plugins" so that Plus! features work in IM clients like Trillian, however, as far as the sound feature is concerned, it's another matter as any connection made to download a sound costs me money so nothingbu Messenger Plus! itself is alowed to do it.

PS: Messenger Plus! does not hack anything nor does it change binary code inside the Messenger process at run time. It hooks Messenger which is a completely different processus.
