O.P. System lag and skipping music
I have noticed that when playing music my computer keeps skipping the music like its to busy to handle the music (it happens in all media players). Then I get system lag were it takes ages to open a file or program.

I have tried:

  • Scanning for adware, scanning for viruses.
  • Defragmenting  (stops at 1% and won’t move on) (running in safe mode).
  • Clearing out temp Internet files other things like disk cleanup.

Does anyone else no any other Defragmenter that would work instead of the windows one or no what could be causing this?

Thanks for any help.

The Windows defragger requires at least 15-20% free disk space IIRC. I think Norton has one that can work with less, but other than that, I don't know.

Let's see... 20% of 40GB is 8GB... you have 20.6GB free...

Could it be to anything to do with your Sound Card?
Try getting the latest updates for it.

You seem to have notihng wrong with your CPU I/O, and your PF usage is normal for the amount of RAM you have. You may have a process that is using large amounts of Memory when you play music, and try uninstaling firefox and play your music to see how your going, it could be that as it is corrupt. Norton System works 2005 is useful utility program, contain defrag and clean up, as well as disk doctor. Try to play music in safe mode if possible, jsut to see it is a process that is running on your computer doing it. If you need any more help pelase do not hesitate to ask me for furthur help. Goodluck and hope this helps you.
