O.P. Removing the startup registry after uninstall
Now, I'm not uninstalling MsgPlus!.

I was uninstalling MsgPlus! recently to update to the new version with MSN 7.

I had the directory in my registry set to C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe

I then had the new version set to C:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3\MsgPlus.exe

Now, when I uninstalled, the startup registry wasn't deleted, and it wasn't changed during installation.  I would think if the directory for MsgPlus is changed, the startup registry should change also or else MsgPlus! won't start up with MSN everytime MSN is opened.  (Plus! isn't in the menu if it isn't on)

I was able to change this by installing in the old directory I had.

Although, I just remembered now, when I uninstalled, none of the files for MsgPlus! were deleted either.^o)  So it would have still worked even if it was uninstalled.:S

Weird, the uninstaller should have deleted all the files. Try uninstalling Plus again and remove any leftovers. Then reinstall it.

The reason why Patchou had to change the directory this way is because when updating Messenger Plus! some Anti Spyware programs would complain about the changes. Unfortunatly to save all of us headaches this was done.

(without restarting) it installs Plus! to
%ProgramFiles%\MessengerPlus! 3 and when you go to load
up Plus! again you can get errors with Plugins of the
plugin dir changing in the registry
Some conversation was removed because its pointless
[07:07:56 PM] Patchou: you want to knwothe real reason for the dir
              change?
[07:08:07 PM] Matty: cause MsgPlusLoader.dll is in use
[07:08:12 PM] Matty: and cannot be removed
[07:08:19 PM] Matty: or overwritten
[07:08:25 PM] Patchou: it's because the first beta of MS
Antispyware was poping up a deadly warning when Plus!
was installing in its old defaultdirectory, saying that
a big threat was being installed...
[07:08:30 PM] Patchou: so as a result, ichanged the dir

To Blank Space: Just a little tip: It was not necessary to uninstall Plus! before upgrading MSN.

If you ever want to remove MsgPlus! from loading, go to Start then choose Run, type msconfig in there, choose Startup, and remove the one that is in Messenger Plus! 3 directory.

I'm not sure but I think that only works with WinXP. Here I got Win2k and it doesn't :P

The real reason that it isn't removed, is for security reasons, if you restart the computer, then you will notice it has been removed...

Windows 2000 doesn't have the msconfig utility, in that case use Autoruns.
