O.P. Huh?  Windows XP or MacOSX Tiger?
I'm in the process of buying a new computer. I've been a Windows user all my life, but I'm attracted to all the nice features of the new MacOS Tiger, like 64 bit support, search for files is a breeze, etc. They say it's even better than the upcoming Longhorn, and I guess learning a Mac doesn't take long...
So what's your recommendation? Any feedback appreciated.

well it all depends on what you want the computer for really, I really like OS X, but I cant have it on my main computer, because I need quite a lot of Windows Applications, but if you just wanted to do stuff like surf the internet, write some letters and stuff, OS X can be a great choice, although the Mac hardware costs can be higher

Well, a Mac comes bundled with a lot of software like image editing, organizer, dvd authoring, and much more, so I guess you can do more than just surf the web and write letters. Also I can't imagine anything you do with Windows that you can't with a Mac....my only concern is software and hardware costs....other than that I suspect MacOSX is superior (more robust, stable and faster) than Windows.

yea i didnt mean that you can only surf the internet and write letters, but i mean some applications just aren't written for OS X, such as games, although more and more games have a Mac version nowadays too.

I think that Mac Software costs are lower, as there isn't such a big market and demand for it, but as Apple are the only people that make Mac hardware, they can have high prices, which is the point that puts most people off buying a Mac.

Yea and cos OS X is built on Unix its stable and secure and stuff and  if you want to you can contorl almost every part of it using Unix Shell Scripts.
