O.P. Shocked  Apple lets Tiger out of bag
[Image: 050428_macos_hmed_12p.hmedium.jpg]

"Apple chief executive Steve Jobs talks about Mac OS X
during his keynote address at MacWorld in San Francisco.
The latest update to the operating system, dubbed "Tiger,"
goes on sale nearly 18 months before Microsoft's next-
generation of Windows. "

To read the whole Article, you can view it HERE.

I'm not a big fan of Apple myself, but I have to say that OS looks sweet.  I cant wait to see the sales stats and compare them to Windows LongHorn (when it comes out).

RE: Apple lets Tiger out of bag
If Windows Longhorn's propositions for TCPA go ahead, we may be looking for alternatives to Windows, or just only use software that has a special licence that could doom a lot of current programs.
Anyway if it goes ahead there could be a sudden boom in the amount of Macintosh's that are out there, which makes this release more appealing. I wouldn't mind seeing a small OS war, because both seem to be groundbreaking and new operating systems. However if TCPA doesn't go ahead for Windows, I think Longhorn will be "top dog"...but there hasn't been a good OS war since the early 90's, it would be so cool for a new one.

yeah i guess your right but i dont see windows losing that much market share that there would be any worries for microsoft. the amount of programs that work on mac would still be smaller than just the windows programs with licence which may limit the usefulness of mac.

What's this TCPA all about then?

Got to admit though, Tiger looks sweeeet! Won't necessarily make me get a Mac though.

I think Mac OS X is nice to show off with your friends but aside of that I don't see many advantages over Windows XP... At this time..
If more people will start using it in the future and there will be more software and games available I might be going to try it ;)

A slightly biased view to say the least :p But this sums it up http://www.againsttcpa.com/what-is-tcpa.html. It's intended use is to block piracy software, however it will also block any application without a licence, which may be hard for some companies to afford. It depends how far it goes ahead, but in it's full intended plan it could be really bad.

If I understand the article right, if TCPA goes to its fullest, only global megacorps could write programs? Meaning smaller companies and hobbyists get screwqed over.
I hope that never happens.
