I thought it would be pretty cool to have custom emoticons on this forum. We could have the ability to upload small images and save them for later use etc

Nah, I don't like the idea of uploading loads of images to the forum at once...
Why not just go to a free image storage site like ImageShack. Upload the images you want, and post them using the [img] tag?

having, for example, 1MB of space that we could upload images to might be quite cool. Could be used for uploading images that you use in a lot of posts.
