O.P. Task manager..
My comp is being really slow after a restart and so I checked task manager.

A process called 'System Idle process' is using above 90% of the CPU constantly. Is this normal and could this be why it's slow?

Thanks, sorry if it's a stupid question.

"System Idle Process" isn't a real process. That 90% is just the amount that isn't in use (idle).

Lol d'oh.

the reason I asked was that I checked in Task Manager to see my CPU usage and the green meter showed 100%. Therefore I stupidly assumed that the idle processes were what was causing it.

Incidentally, I have rebooted and my CPU usage is on 6ish% and the Idle Processes is at 94% so that confirms what you said...Thankyou, and apologies for being a noob.

Haha, I've always imagined someone complaining about a virus named "System Idle Process" which consumes all their CPU.. this came close.
The previous sentence is false. The following sentence is true.
