O.P. Sad  sending files
Every time someone wants to send me a file, msn blocks it. It claims it's unsecure and that it can contain a virus. I've checked every security setting i could find. But i could find nothing. I don't have a firewall of viruschecker. Nothing and still it keeps on blocking.... please help :(:(:(:(

What version of MSN Messenger are you using?

Make sure you are using the latest version from messenger.msn.com. That allows you to send many more types of files than previous versions, but still blocks some file types;

To allow yourself to send all types of files, even the blocked ones, you can get one the following;

StuffPlug-NG.
Mess Patch
The A-Patch

Everyone of them is useful for that (Y)

...Microsoft add this feature, and in moments later there are lot of ways to bypass this "security"..... haha

Do you have the latest version of Messenger? Build 813 has a much-improved blocking thing i.e. it'll only block files that really can be harmful, unlike what it does in build 777 (blocking JPEGs and stuff).

Then again, since you don't have a firewall or AV, this Messenger feature is the least of your worries. Given your complete lack of PC security, there's a multitude of ways viruses can get to your PC.
You really should have a decent firewall and AV.

and that was the time that I downloaded it :D
about the firewall, i have the latest version of msn and i know i should have better security for my pc. But i'm really bad with configuring firewalls so i always disable them and since virus scanners slow down my pc, i only install them every 4 months. But since i've got firefox, i must say i really don't have that many problems and i've never had a big virus since i've used it :)
the biggest virus for me is windows xp. so when things go really bad i just do format c ;) only happened once so far

It's people like you that allow viruses to propagate.
Since you have XP, just turn it's firewall on. It's not exactly hard to configure.
And find an AV that doesn't slow the PC down if you can.

I'm just hoping that you at least use Windows Update...

Enable Windows build in firewall! That's the least you can do. And you don't need to configure anything in it.

4 months is waaaaaay too long...
Anyways, AV's don't need to be active all the time. This is a major misconseption.... A virusscanner scans for virussen. But there are two ways:
1) run it full automatically and let it always be active. It will scan every file you execute, send, etc... This is what slows down PC's...
2) run the scanners when you want it. Don't let it run constantly... Just start it every week or so and do a full system scan. The virusscanner doesn't stay active and is run like any normal program and after you've done the scan, it is quit again. There is no slowing down what-so-ever....
