O.P. Sad  Transparent Icons Help
Well i've had this problem for a while now, and i've got no idea how to fix it

I want to get the background behind my desktop icons transparent like they used to be.

Right now they look like this.

I changed the colour of the background of the text in the icons once, just wanting to see how it looked, but then i wanted for it to go back to transparent, but that option isn't there.

Yes i've checked Google, and the solutions havn't helped, so maybe you guys could help me out

I found programs through google, but none of them really worked for me :undecided:

These solutions have not helped:

Open System Properties in Control Panel, choose the Advanced tab, and click Settings in the Performance section. Turn on the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop option, and click Ok.

Right click on desktop > Arrange Icons By > Lock web icons on desktop

If the background picture isn't .jpg or .jpeg the icons will go that way.

They're always like that, even with .jpg or .jpeg files :undecided:

RE: Transparent Icons Help
ok, go through these things, usually they are what causes the text background not to be transparent..

1. using a background item or desktop item that uses a transparent image or an animated GIF image.

2. setting a web page as the active desktop.

3. enabling "Lock Web Items on Desktop".. i know you said that you already tried that option.. but perhaps you enabled it so there is a checkmark beside it.

go here for clearer information:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305117

otherwise, i don't know what the problem could be at all :-/

Did you also follow all the instructions on the link Joa gave? http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305117
When you've tried the solutions, restart the computer as well.
