O.P. Windows media player keeps freezing
Why does my computer freeze everytime I open Windows media player?
I can't get the "what im playing now" working in msn. Any ideas on why it's crashing my computer?

I just re-installed Windows media player and it still does the same.  It opens then it does not do anything it was ok when I had an older version but now it won't even install an older version.

Well im having problems with version 10 at the minute. Windows media player opens ok but does not play anything and just crashes my computer. I've tried real player and that works great but is no good to use the msn "what im listening to."

I am playing mp3 files and yes i've tried using different file types it's just not working. It must be something to do with Windows media player because Real player works fine. Im giving up lol

If you have installed Windows Media Player 10, you can roll back to the version of the Player that was on your computer before installing Windows Media Player 10.

To roll back from Windows Media Player 10 to a previous version, do the following:

   1.
In Control Panel (Category View), click Add or Remove Programs.
   2.
Click Remove a program, and then do one of the following:
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, select the Show updates check box (at the top of the list), click Windows Media Player 10 (in the Windows Updates section), and then click Change/Remove.
      - or -
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 1 or earlier, click Windows Media Player 10, and then click Change/Remove.

You can also use System Restore to roll back to the previous version of the Player.

do that and run the setup up file for version 10
if that doesnt work then i havnt got a clue

did u install any plugins?

I've tried all that and it did not work it's still the same although this time Windows brought a message up saying virtual memory too low. But all my other programmes run ok. I didn't install any plugins for Windows media player. I've also tried playing files in edonkey with the internal Windows media player and works fine. It's got me confused :S
