O.P. 6800Ultra or 7800GTX
Alright, I decided to go for PCIex,
if I'd buy a killer AGP card right now, and wanted to upgrade my whole system later, the AGP would've ended up in the dustbin.
So anyway, Now I have two choices:
XFX nVidia GF6800 Ultra (256mb)
or the XFX nVidia 7800GTX (256mb)
The price difference is just 20E, so nothing to worry about.

However, I hear some rumours about 7800 getting too hot, having driver issues, etc etc etc,

What would you do? 7800GTX or 6800Ultra ?
I'm completely lost here :'(

7800GTX :p

Having driver issues doesn't sound like a problem... In my opinion, nVidia made it a haste to roll out 7800... driver updates will follow :) If you are to get a killer card, go get the best one.

It's my personal opinions.

What about power issues and warmth issues :/

RE: 6800Ultra or 7800GTX
get the 7800GTX for sure dude

it has cinefx 4.0

and it has more RAW POWER

when you turn aa on on this card it kicks the 6800ultras ass

plus it has extra pixel and vertex pipes,

and it has a new Antialiasing feature called Transparent antialiasing

have you ever seen the fences in half life 2 when you can see another fence behind it?

well this transparent antialiasing filters the fence behind the fence as standard AA couldn't do this

the 7800GTX also runs ALOT cooler due to its new microprocess (DIE SIZE), it also requires less power overall, and it kicks ass in games

would you like me to pull up Guru3d's review?

temps are between 40-75 (which is very safe on the vid cards of these days)

just make sure you have good airflow throughout your case

heres the review
http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/229/

don't try acessing guru3d's home page, i believe they are having server difficulties right now, so just enjoy the review :)

Yeah, show me the review ;)
I dont believe a smaller processor is going to make it cooler though :/
Smaller processor has smaller area for the warmth to leave :P

no it doesn't LOL, silly :P

the microprocess is just how big the transistors are :P

review is in my post above

smaller microprocess = less power needed

less power needed = less heat made

the DIE size is the same, but the transistors that make up the die have been shrunk down to 110nm, and there is over 303million transistors on the gpu alone :P

thats more then whats on the fastest cpu currently :P

<offtopic>
I assume there's a reason GPU makers haven't adopted the latest CPU 90nm process.

Given the difference between the two cards is 20Euro, then go for the 7800. If, however, you wait a little, the 6800 should drop in price. Getting two of them and doing SLI may then work out cheaper.
