My friend gave me a DVD, and said I would find it "interesting". On the DVD are two files, which are supposed to be a DVD image, containing data files.

The files are:
something.mdf <- about 4 GB
something.mds <- about 36 KB

FILExt tells me that it is an Alcohol image. I dont want to download Alcohol just for one disk.

DVD Decrypter says that it can open something.mds. My question; can it? Can I burn this image using DVD Decrypter? Or, does DVD Decrypter use the same extension, for a different type of image file?

i use nero for things like that. i add the mdf to the 'write image to disc' and burn, it burns the .mds file afaik its a bit like .cue and .bin

alternatively i like to use Alcohol 120% which can make a virtual drive where you can mount the image and view it from there...

you can use iso buster www.isobuster.com and then take them out and put it on your desktop and never actually have to burn it

Nero can't open it. It won't show in the Browse ... box, unless I choose All files (*.*). When I do force it to show, I get the error "Unexpected file format."

I don't have Alcohol, because it wasn't the most reliable for me. I already said that I don't want to download it just for this.

I do want to burn it to a disk, not just extract the files.

Did I mention that there is also a something.nfo file?

.nfo are normally text from my experience open it in notepad....

I guess I'll just try using DVD Decrypter, and have a new coaster if it doesn't work. Wait, I never use coasters, damn!

I wanted to burn, not emulate.

I tried using DVD Decrypter, and it worked .

why dont you do what i said and extract it out of the image and then burn those files

Why I didn't just extract, then burn manually:

• The files will not be in the same location on the disk
  
• The disk wont have the label it had
  
• It takes twice as long
  
• I'm too lazy to put in the effort
