O.P. Undecided  Unable to log in, this computer only
A few days a go (Using MSN Messenger version 7.0.0813), I got this error message while trying to log in:

"Signing in to MSN Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. 80090331"

Since then I've tried using Windows Messenger and MSN through Trilian. Neither of those work either, and Windows Messenger gives me the message:

"Signing in to .NET Messenger Service failed because the password is incorrect or the sign-in name does not exist..."

I tried reinstalling version 7.0 and Messenger Plus, still nothing. I downgraded to version 6.2, it did basically the same thing. I turned off firewalls, but I don't think they're the problem. Nothing seems to be wrong with my account. I can log in to Hotmail and MSN Web Messenger, and I can use MSN with my account on other computers. I have tried signing on to other accounts on my computer, but it still fails.

The only thing I could have done to cause the problem (that I can think of) is use an adware uninstaller program at this link:

It sucks not having MSN, please help. :P

How about firewalls or proxy settings?

No proxy, but I have the Windows firewall (usually disabled) and Norton Anti-Virus. I've tried disabling them both and it doesn't help.

Can you still sign into Hotmail and other Passport-enabled sites?

Sorry, missed that bit.
Have you, at any time, had SmileyCentral installed? It's possible that removing that using anti-adware programs has damaged something.
Or, do you have the Handwriting Plugin still installed? It's no longer needed with MSNM7, and can cause problems if left installed.

No problem. I never had SmileyCentral installed, and I remember once I was going to get the Handwriting Plugin. I don't think I did, but I'm not 100% sure. I can't find a list of plugins anywhere, how would I check to see if I had it installed?

Go to where you installed Plus!, and look in the Plugins folder. If there's a file with a name like 'Msnhandwriting.dll', that's the handwriting plugin.

Nope, I don't have the plugin then.
