I just bought a new hardrive with a 160GB compacity with an 8mb Buffer rate.  I currently have windows 98 SE on it, but it only recognizes about 8GB of it :S How might I make it recognize all of it.  Thanks.

no it doesnt... 8-)

theres only one other way, make about 20 fat32 partitons.

And, if your monitor needs 640x480 resolution, you REALLY need to get a better computer. Now.

If your monitor is that old is it safe to assume your whole computer is also reasonably well-loved (5 years old)? It may not be your OS but rather the limitations of your motherboard, especially as you mentioned it only recognised 8gb. If this is the case even partitioning won't do anything.
Read about it here.

Try updating your bios, the manufacturer may have provided an update to remove this barrier.

no its not a well loved computer...if u had read the thread "computer Heaven in the Trash" you would have known where the computer came from...but ill tell u that i came from someone's trash and its just a computer that ive wanted, b/c it would be in my room unlike this computer which is in the living room so thats the onl reason i really wanted it.  im just trying to upgrade it with new parts and stuff instead of buying a whole new one b/c i dont make that much mowing grass and im too young for a job...if i had a job i would get a mac or somthing else real good in a heartbeat...im just mainly expirementing on 'em so i can learn even more to what i know

Did I just sprout a whole lot of bull in that last post? I dunno. One thing to check though, is your drive set to LBA in your BIOS settings?
