O.P. Annoying problem with MSN 7.5.0244 and Messenger Plus!
Hello.
My MSN Messenger 7.5.0244 crashes when i execute it with Messenger Plus! 3.54 active.
When Plus! is off MSN runs without problems.

Is there anyway to fix this?

since your using the new msn that means your a beta tester and if your a beta tester you are not supposed to have other programs connected with MSN messenger because  the testing your doing may not have proper results

if your arent a MSN beta tester then you shouldnt be using it so no help for you

It's not much of help that I'll give... but that Messenger Plus! Might not be completely compatible with the beta... I know some features of stuff plug don't work such as the tab manager, and ignore feature for me.

Yeah you can't expect plus to work flawlessly with the cutting edge unpublicly released MSN. I'm using it with Beta 7.5.0160 or somkething like that, and it works fine, just downgrade.

Just so people know, MSN Messenger 7.5.0244 is a private BETA, therefore most members of the forum won't offer support for it. You should downgrade to the latest public release unless you're an MSN Beta Tester, in which case you shouldn't be running add-ons during testing.

OK, so i know were not spose to be using it but that doesnt mean we cant be helped, this issue needs to be addressed because it is neither a bug in MSN or MsgPlus but the way the two work together.
The reason you cannot sign on is not due to any plugins.
Using custom names and adding yourself to your contacts is why. When signing in with 7.5 Plus attempts to customize your email address to your custom name just before its sent off to login, thus you cannot login as it not your email being sent.

Few ways round this.
- Use MSN 7 thatll stop people moaning :/ but ignore them...
- Disable Custom Names
- Disable Plus sign in, then boot plus (can be tricky)
- Remove yourself from your contacts!
- Alter your custom name to your email address

I prefer the bottom, you cant chat to yourself anyway. Hope that helps everyone.

Those having difficulty logging on to delete themselves, go into task manager and kill both msnmsgr.exe and MsgPlus.exe then reload MSN and sign in. If Plus is still enabled then you need to go to prefrences > general options > Misc, and alter the way Plus loads to Default then repeat.

Its come to my attention that although after deleting yourself from your contacts list your settings are still saved and thus your name will still be altered. To delete these setting you have to tinker with the registry which i dont advise unless you know what your doin. Unfortunately there is no set key to delete as the key is genertated from what appears to be a hash of your email so the best thing to do is tap down to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Patchou\MsgPlus2\<YOUR EMAIL>\Contacts"  in regedit (Start > Run > regedit) then hit ctrl F and type in your custom name you had assigned in Plus, tick match whole string only and find it, this should highlight your custom name string. just delete that one registry entry. Kill plus and msn and boot as normal.

Sorry for the long windedness and perhaps lack of clarity.
Hope this helps people.

Please reply again if not or for help

Cheers, Chris

We don't provide support for unrealeased Beta software. By using a beta version of any software, you are agreeing that the release will be unsupported.

Downgrading should solve your problem.
